Standard Oil

Standard Oil was a strong American oil corporation, founded by the famous magnate John D. Rockefeller in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court found Standard Oil to be a monopoly, in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act, and broke it up in 1911. After the breakup, its famous red, white, and blue logo was visible on all Amoco properties, until Amoco merged with BP in 1988.
