Unicode is a character encoding standard used to allow computers to represent all of the known writing systems of the world. Unicode specifies encoding schemes such as UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32. The most popular encoding scheme is UTF-8. UTF-8 characters are represented with one to four bytes. For example, the English letters of the Latin script are encoded with one byte.
