Vasilii Buturlin (died 1656) was a Russian boyar and emissary. In January 1654 he headed the Muscovite delegation at the negotiations of the Pereiaslav Treaty with Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and the Ukrainian Kozaks. He refused to give the Kozaks the Tsar's oath to protect their freedoms (an oath which the Tsar had no intention of either giving of keeping), and this agreeent ultimately led to the domination of Ukraine by Russia. Later, in 1655 he commanded the Russian forces that aided the Ukrainians in expeling the Polish troops from Ukraine.
