William S. Posey (1848 – year of death missing) was an African-American Republican state representative for St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, who held the position from 1883 to 1888, just after the era of Reconstruction.
He had five months of formal education at an orphans' home school. He became the school superintendent and mayor of Patterson in St. Mary Parish after the incorporation of the town. In 1870, he was appointed In the Grant administration as postmaster of Patterson. He was also the deputy of federal supervisor of elections in the parish seat of government in Franklin and served as a justice of the peace from 1872 to 1874. He was a Methodist.[1]
