1. In this course I hope to be able to expand my knowledge on the world and the many events that have occurred throughout time.

2. One of my favorite events in the bible was the Tower of Babel. The Tower of Babel was located in Babylonia around 2500 B.C. it was built in hopes to be able and reach heaven. God was not in agreement with the people who were involved with building the tower so he mixed up all the languages that way none of them could communicate with each other. I like how God could simply mix up the way people talk that way none of them could communicate and finish the tower.

3. From 1792-1750 B.C. A ruler named Hammurabi took power as the sixth king of Babylon. While in power Hammurabi created an elaborate code of law which imposed harsh punishment upon those who deserved it. It went along with "an eye for an eye" and lower classes of people received even harsher punishment than others. In a lot of ways the Hammurabi code was coefficient with the ten commandments, the eighth commandment states that "thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor" Hammurabi's code states that if one accuses another of wrong yet cannot prove it, that person shall be killed. Hammurabi was a brilliant ruler and is well respected to this day.

Excellent, but the word “coefficient” is misused. The substance of your answer is superb.

4. List the major ancient empires from the lecture in approximate chronological order, and identify which one you like best, and why: Assyrian, Chaldean, and Persian. The Assyrian Empire was probably my favorite. The thing I found interesting was how confident they were. They were extremely powerful because of the use of iron weapons and battering rams, in fact they had no hesitation to even tunnel under their own enemies wall.

5. Current Events Question: What controversy today can be traced back in origin to something in this week's lecture, such as current Middle East conflicts? The Islamic and Jewish cultures trace their lineage from different sons of Abraham who were rivals for the attention and love of their father. In the bible it states that the Jewish are decedents of Abraham and Sarah's son Isaac. Where as the Koran states that Arabs are descendents of Abraham’s first son Ishmael, the son of Hagar. The conflict between the Jewish and Arab is often described as a family feud. When Isaac was born Abraham sent Hagar and his son Ishmael into the desert where they received protection from God. Sarah could not have a child, therefore Abraham had Ishmael with his servant Hagar and it was not until many years later that God allowed Sarah to give birth to Isaac. I think that once Isaac was born Abraham was torn on which son would receive his inheritance.

6. The three kingdoms of ancient Egypt are- The Old Kingdom which was the first kingdom in Ancient Egypt, it is known for its security and prosperity. The Middle Kingdom was the second kingdom in Ancient Egypt and is best known for its cultural achievements, such as literature and artwork. The New Kingdom was the last, during this period Ancient Egypt was ruled by foreigners called the Hyksos. After the New Kingdom ended Egypt was invaded and conquered by the Persians in 525 B.C.

One of the things I find most interesting about Ancient Egypt is the role woman had. Back then woman were very powerful, and had many rights such as, owning property, managing businesses and even becoming priestesses.
