The Airthings Masters is an end-of-year chess tournament that is the second leg of the Champions Chess Tour, which runs from December 26, 2020 to January 3, 2021. The prize money is $200,000, of which $60,000 goes to the winner.

The preliminary round consists of a 12-player rapid (15|10) round-robin. From that round, the top eight players advance to the following playoff:

  • a six-day knockout that consists of four-game rapid matches over two days
  • a blitz (5|3) round using armageddon (White has five minutes, Black has four minutes with no increment) tiebreaks, which are used only if the knockout match remains tied after the second day.
