In Al-Ali v. Salt Lake Community College, (10th Cir. 2008, from Utah), the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit held that a statute of limitations barred a professor's lawsuit under Title VII. Limitations period barred professor's Title VII discrimination claim.

Specifically, a part-time adjunct professor had been terminated by a college, and the Court found that when he was told he could no longer teach (after students allegedly complained) then that notification began the 300 day statute of limitations period under Title VII. The professor unsuccessfully relied on a claim that he had been given oral assurances of future employment.
