Alexander Cockburn (1941-2012) was an Irish American journalist. Politically, he was on the far left, considering the Democratic Party unacceptably pro-business.[1]

Cockburn was co-editor of the newsletter and website CounterPunch, as well as a regular columnist for The Nation magazine and The Wall Street Journal. Co-author of several books, he also contributed to The Village Voice, The New York Review of Books, Harper's Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, and In These Times.[2]
