Amsterdam Pogrom by Arab Muslims (2024)

Racist Arab Muslim mob attacks Israelis post soccer game

On Nov 7-8, 2024: Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Arab, Muslim mobs of a about 1,000 ambushed Israelis, Jews, with clubs, knives, some even ran over by cars. Called a 'hunt on Jews,' or a 'Jew hunt.'

The pogrom was planned ahead of a soccer match between Makabi and a local team.

'In coordinated Jihad; Jews run over, stabbed, thrown in canal.'

Hamas affiliated PGNL send messages to gather.

Amsterdam Arabic speakers on Jews: :"beat him to kill". Israeli-Druze soccer fan spoke in Arabic & saved Jewish friends.

As the Amsterdam Jewish community joined with local officials to commemorate the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht at the city’s Portuguese-Jewish synagogue—established by Jews who escaped the Inquisition—a pogrom was taking place outside. Following a soccer match between the Dutch club Ajax and the visiting Maccabi Tel Aviv, Jewish and Israeli fans of the visiting club were ambushed and beaten in the city’s streets and alleys.

Footage shows an Israeli soccer fan being struck by a car, cartwheeling across the windshield. More footage shows the scene in downtown Amsterdam, where Israelis are pleading with their assailants, “not Jewish, not Jewish.” And they are beaten mercilessly.

In video of other attacks last night, a victim is struck and lays injured on the ground, seemingly unconscious. A father can be seen fleeing with his son. A man jumps into one of Amsterdam’s canals to escape his assailants. In the recording, where he is forced to say “Free Palestine,” his assailants laugh and jeer that he is a “cancer Jew”—a classic slur in Dutch, where both diseases and the Jewish ethnicity are deployed as put-downs.

Much about the origins of the attack are still unclear, but early reports suggest that it was carried out by youth gangs from the Dutch Moroccan and Dutch Turkish community, and was orchestrated in advance. Visiting Israelis report being ambushed by groups of 10 to 15 masked assailants in various alleys. Fleeing Israelis told Channel 12’s Elad Simchayoff that “Amsterdam police instructed [Israelis] not to go by taxis. Police officers told fans that taxi drivers in the city are helping organize the riots and assisting the gangs.”

Exit quote: “Dutch society repeatedly told its post-Holocaust Jewish remnant—and itself—that ‘never again’ was not merely a concrete promise, but a core concept of modern Dutch morality. However, the dominant culture of the country’s immigrant communities has proven manifestly hostile to that worldview—and to Jews.”

Aaron and Jacob are two young British Jews, fathers of young families from London, who visited Amsterdam for the game and were caught up in the pogrom. Aaron describes:

We left the game early to meet a friend, and as we walked towards the bar area, chaos broke out - mopeds appeared from alleyways, and a crowd surrounded an Israeli man. The man was on the ground, his head pinned between a curb and a metal gate, being viciously kicked.

Aaron and Jacob tried to push the mob away, only to be threatened with violence themselves. “Are you Yehudi? Are you Jewish?” the attackers asked, even demanding to see their passports to ascertain if they were Israeli. A gang member punched Aaron in the face, then was quickly joined by 20 other Muslim men.

“I told him to leave him alone and the next thing I know, he punched me in the face. It was so unexpected. My glasses were broken, my nose split. Blood everywhere,” Aaron described. A gang member realized that Aaron was Jewish and told the mob to leave him alone. “Yes, but he helped a Jew,” one of his attackers complained. “They knew what they were doing. It wasn’t a random ‘Let’s get an Israeli,” Aaron describes; “It was organized. It was ‘We want Jews. We want Jewish blood.’” Despite the violence, Aaron and Jacob recall, there were no police officers in the area to intervene.”

Attackers coordinated their pogrom using social media. “There is talk of people going on a Jew hunt,” explained Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema.

The many social media posts showing Jews and Israelis being beaten up in the streets and canals of Amsterdam were gleeful. “This coward jumped into the canal, afraid of getting beaten,” one typical post showed, along with “crying with laughter” emojis.

Another public post shows an unconscious man lying in the fetal position on a road in Amsterdam, being kicked by his attackers. Yet another post “shows a young Israeli football fan cornered in a narrow alley where he ends up crouching on the floor. He begs for mercy but his assailants knock him out with a punch to the head.” In these and other cases, the perpetrators appeared proud of what they were doing.

Revealed: How Pro-Palestinian mob organised via WhatsApp to ‘Hunt Jews’ across Amsterdam

The Telegraph reveals the messages of the pre-planned attack and pogrom of Jews in Amsterdam: “Tomorrow we will work them” “Who can get fireworks” “Come in this group tomorrow over here” “Tomorrow after the game, at night, part 2 of the Jew Hunt. Tomorrow we work them.”

The Arab networks are publishing a collection of videos from the pogrom, edited by the military wing of Hamas. At the beginning of the recording, chants of "Allah Akbar" are heard before the attack by the Israelis, followed by cursing and attacking.

Many shouted pro "palestine" slogans but as Dutch authorities said, this was no protest.

In fact, Arab - Muslims attacking Jews globally actually confirms the core of the "conflict" in the Middle East since 1913, as what it is, at the root: Arab racism, Islamic bigotry.

It was denounced in that country, all over. Including the US & Canadian governments. The Dutch King said, we failed to protect the Jews again. Referring to WW2).

The timing of being ahead of the kristallnacht anniversary was also brought up.

Aftermath

Over Amsterdam pogrom: Report: Dutch government could fall. Dutch government says it needs ‘more time’ to implement antisemitism strategy. It teeters over handling of antisemitic attacks on Israeli soccer fans.

Pandering to its Arab immigrants: 'Pogrom... propaganda[sic]' Amsterdam Mayor makes outrageous statement. She was lambasted for saying she regrets calling violent attacks against Israeli soccer fans a ‘Pogrom.' For calling a spade a spade.

About 10 days after Pogrom: Dutch Arab-Muslim official resigns over post-pogrom ‘polarization’. Ex-undersecretary Nora Achahbar, who was born in Morocco, quit after right-wing pol Geert Wilders called for the deportation of those behind the Nov. 7 assaults, "most of whom" were Moroccan. The official resigned on Friday due to what she said were “polarizing attitudes” connected to the recent mass assaults by Arabs on Israelis in Amsterdam. It underlined how the Nov. 7 assaults are widening pre-existing divisions on immigration and the rule of law between rightists and centrists in the country’s ruling coalition.

After Amsterdam pogrom, Dutch lawmakers vote to close antisemitic mosques.

In Mar/2025, four more Arabs sentenced to jail for Amsterdam pogrom attack:

An Amsterdam court announced at a public hearing on Wednesday jail sentences, ranging from 11 days to three months, for four more perpetrators of the violent attack against Israeli soccer fans that took place in the streets of the Dutch capital last year. The lengthiest sentence of three months, with the deduction of pre-trial detention, was given to a 27-year-old man who incited violence against Maccabi Tel Aviv fans on Nov. 7, 2024, with messages posted in a WhatsApp group chat that had thousands of members. He wrote “Dead Jew better than a living Jew” and messages about “Dirty cancer [sic] Jews.” The court shared several other of his offensive messages, one of which included an image of Holocaust victim Anne Frank alongside the text “slaughter gas is for losers. I use Zyklon B,” referring to the deadly gas used in gas chambers at Nazi concentration camps. He had also shared an image of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler with the text “pull up pull up gas,” a drawing of Hitler with a swastika, and the message “Hamas Hamas all Jews on the gas.”

The 27-year-old also insulted Jews, made comments trivializing the Holocaust, and shared locations of “those Jews” so they would be attacked during the “Jew hunting” rampage that took place on Nov. 7. He even provided a time and location for attackers to gather and coordinate their assault, which took place in Amsterdam after Maccabi Tel Aviv competed against the Dutch team Ajax in a UEFA Europa League match. The court said he confessed to assisting in the violence carried out by dozens of anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian gangs.

The Pogrom in Amsterdam: Three Questions Every Jew Needs to Ask.

By Dr. Yvette Alt Miller. November 10, 2024

In the shadow of Kristallnacht an organized pogrom was unleashed on the streets of Amsterdam. We should not be surprised...

The Nov. 7 Pogrom. After Maccabi Tel Aviv lost to Ajax 5-0, fans streamed out of the Johan Cruyff Arena. They were soon set upon by gangs of scores of Turkish and Arab men. Dutch Jewish reporter Daid de Bruijn records some of the violence:

Footage shows an Israeli soccer fan being struck by a car, cartwheeling across the windshield. More footage shows the scene in downtown Amsterdam, where Israelis are pleading with their assailants, ‘not Jewish, not Jewish.’ And they are beaten mercilessly. Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam attacked by mob shouting ‘Free Palestine’ — Netanyahu sends planes to evacuate citizens. By David Propper. Published Nov. 8, 2024, 1:56 a.m. ET

Israeli soccer fans were ambushed and brutally assaulted in Amsterdam overnight Thursday by a mob shouting “Free Palestine,” leading the Jewish state’s government to send planes to evacuate its citizens, officials said.

Hundreds of fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer club were targeted as they walked out of the stadium following a Europa League game against a Dutch team, AFC Ajax, the Israeli Embassy to the United States said.

The embassy also shared footage of the attacks, including one assailant that screamed “Free Palestine” as a victim cowered in fear. NYPost

‘Pogrom’ in Amsterdam: Netanyahu sends planes to save Jews, US congressmen demand action . The Israeli National Security Council told Israelis to remain in their hotel rooms, avoid wearing anything with Jewish or Israeli symbols and to return home early. JNS Staff.

(Nov. 7, 2024 / JNS)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated at about 4:30 a.m. local time that he was dispatching two rescue planes to Amsterdam following a “very violent incident against Israeli citizens.”

“The harsh pictures of the assault on our citizens in Amsterdam will not be overlooked,” Netanyahu’s office stated. “Prime Minister Netanyahu views the horrifying incident with utmost gravity and demands that the Dutch government and security forces take vigorous and swift action against the rioters, and ensure the safety of our citizens.”

The Israeli National Security Council stated in Hebrew that Israelis in Amsterdam should remain in their hotel rooms and avoid the street, refrain from wearing visible Jewish or Israeli symbols and notify Dutch police and the Israeli mission about any threat or attack. The council also advised Israelis to return to home, with more planes expected.

Earlier in the day, Maccabi Tel Aviv lost 5-0 to Ajax Amsterdam in a Europa League soccer game. Various reports indicate that Israeli fans were attacked—with some reports of injuries—after leaving the game. Some reports indicated that up to dozens of people were arrested. (JNS sought comment from the Amsterdam police.)

Geert Wilders, who leads the largest political party in the Netherlands, wrote that it “looks like a Jew hunt in the streets of Amsterdam.”

“Arrest and deport the multicultural scum that attacked Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters in our streets,” Wilders wrote. “Ashamed that this can happen in The Netherlands. Totally unacceptable.”

Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, wrote that “we are receiving very disturbing reports of extreme violence against Israelis and Jews on the streets of Holland. There is a pogrom currently taking place in Europe in 2024.”

“These are the true faces of the supporters of the radical terrorism we are fighting. The western world needs to wake up now,” he wrote. “This is the time when the United Nations should immediately and clearly condemn the violence of the Palestinians and their supporters. The Dutch authorities must take decisive action against terrorism now.”

Deborah Lipstadt, the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, wrote that she is “horrified by the attacks tonight in Amsterdam, which are terribly reminiscent of a classic pogrom.”

“I am also deeply disturbed by how long the reported attacks lasted and call on the government to conduct a thorough investigation into security force intervention and on how these despicable attacks transpired,” Lipstadt wrote. “In terrible historical irony, this is happening two days before the grim anniversary of Reichspogromnacht in 1938, when Nazi-sanctioned and led pogroms against Jews erupted across the German Reich.”

“This is outrageous. The government of the Netherlands must protect Jews from these attacks and prosecute the assailants,” wrote Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.). “I’m putting together a group of Jewish members of Congress to discuss this with the Dutch ambassador tomorrow.”

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) wrote that “the hysterical and hyperbolic demonization of Israel has led to a global outbreak of antisemitic vitriol, vandalism and violence. The single most monstrous manifestation of antisemitism is a pogrom that is presently unfolding against hundreds of Jews who were cheering on the Tel Aviv football club in Amsterdam.”

“Those inciting antisemitism now have the blood of a 21st-century pogrom on their hands,” he stated. “The situation is so dire that the Israeli government is dispatching rescue teams for Jews in danger. I am sick to my stomach that a pogrom is happening in the 21st century.”

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) wrote that “two days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht, Jews are once again experiencing antisemitism and vicious attacks in Europe.”

“I am deeply disturbed by the reports from Amsterdam, and I will continue working to stop the rise in antisemitism across the world and in America,” he wrote.

“A horrible pogrom in action. Where are the police? Just allowing Jews to be hunted and beaten in the streets,” wrote Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.). “We will demand answers from the the Netherlands Embassy in the United States.”

What ‘globalize the intifada’ looks like

Melissa Lantsman, a member of the Canadian Parliament and deputy leader of the Conservative Party, wrote that “the scenes from the streets of Amsterdam tonight are absolutely horrific.”

“This is what ‘globalize the intifada’ looks like,” Lantsman wrote. “Don’t look the other way. Watch the footage and stand up against this lawless mob there and everywhere.”

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and national director of the Anti-Defamation League, wrote that “this is exactly what ‘globalize the intifada’ looks like. Mobs of hate-filled people chasing down and attacking innocent Israeli soccer fans, who they have dehumanized as ‘Zionists,’ hunting down and brutalizing ordinary people who came to Amsterdam simply to enjoy a soccer match.”

“We demand Dutch authorities do everything necessary to ensure the safety of the Israeli fans, work to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators and apologize for this obscene, unprovoked violence,” Greenblatt wrote.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett wrote that the attack “seems like a planned and organized pogrom in Amsterdam.”

The Israeli embassy in Washington stated that “hundreds of fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team were ambushed and attacked in Amsterdam tonight as they left the stadium following a game against Ajax Amsterdam.”

The embassy shared video footage that appeared to show someone being attacked as he lay motionless on the street and a driver intentionally driving a car into a pedestrian.

“The mob, who targeted these innocent Israelis, has proudly shared their violent acts on social media,” the embassy stated. “Responses to this video so far have ranged from: they started it (by chanting), they deserve it (since they’re Israelis), and they don’t belong there.”

“Let’s get one thing clear: There is no justification for a lynching mob,” the embassy added. “Israeli soccer fans should be allowed to support their team without fear of physical danger. The days of chasing Jews down European city streets should remain in the dark annals of history.”

“We are horrified by footage coming out of Amsterdam that shows masked assailants brutally attacking Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans,” the American Jewish Committee said. “We urge the Dutch government to immediately act to ensure the safety of the fans and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Agudath Israel of America stated that it is “horrified by the scenes coming out of Amsterdam tonight” which it called “a modern day pogrom,” in which “Jews are attacked by mobs of antisemites in the streets of Europe once again.”

“We urge the government of the Netherlands to immediately ensure the safety of Jewish people in their country and apprehend all of the perpetrators of tonight’s riot,” Agudah said.

Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote that “radical Islamists are tearing Europe apart, targeting Israeli Jews—even at a soccer match in Amsterdam.”

“Europeans: If you think this stops with the Jewish community, think again,” he wrote. “You’re at risk of losing your countries, democracies, and way of life.”

Earlier in the day, David van Weel, the Dutch minister of justice and security, posted about taking part in a Kristallnacht commemoration at Amsterdam’s 17th century Portuguese synagogue. At press time, neither he nor many senior members of the government had commented on the attacks.

“Antisemitic mobs attacking Israeli soccer fans tonight in Amsterdam. Pathetic response from the authorities as Israel is sending in two rescue planes,” wrote David Friedman, the former U.S. ambassador to Israel. “All this in 2024—three days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht!” JNS

It's A Miracle We're Not Talking Dozens Dead The Amsterdam pogrom: A planned ambush, not a sudden outburst. A witness speaking to an Army Radio reporter noted that hundreds of pro-Palestinian attackers waited in key locations waiting to pounce on Jews. 1 Avi Woolf | JFeed | 11.8.24.

Army Radio reporter Doron Kadosh reported a short time ago today (Friday) that he just spoke with a friend who is in an Amsterdam hotel and was a witness to the pogrom.

He said that there were many hundreds of pro-Palestinians waiting in ambush at midnight along all the central streets in Holland, in the alleys, and next to the hotels, and waiting to pounce on Israelis coming back from the soccer game.

According to the source, "the police here does not have any tools to deal with such an event."

Kadosh commented "Let that sink in. A pro-Palestinian organization, deployed in an organized fashion in one of the central streets in Europe, and establishing organized, prepared ambushes waiting to carry out pogroms against Jews." JFeed

After Maccabi Tel Aviv's loss, dozens of groups of Muslim rioters gathered around Amsterdam and began to attack and lynch the Israeli fans. The "Brothers for the Symbol" organization of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans updated what was happening from Holland and wrote: "To think about what happened in the Holocaust and other historical days and realize that nothing has changed. Outrage, focus on Muslim migrants after Amsterdam ‘pogrom’. Some Dutch officials said that the attacks were due to unchecked immigration from the Middle East, while others avoided the subject of the attackers' identity. Canaan Lidor.

(Nov. 8, 2024 / JNS) Amsterdam police detained 62 people in connection with a series of antisemitic assaults against Israeli soccer fans, which resulted in five moderate injuries and about 20 to 30 minor ones, in the Dutch capital, the city’s prosecutor René de Beukelaer said at a Friday press.

The five injured people were treated in the hospital and discharged, De Beukelaer said during the briefing with Femke Halsema, the Amsterdam mayor.

Witnesses described about 100 men, whom they described as Arabs, assaulting Israelis in a coordinated manner on Friday morning. The country’s largest-scale antisemitic incident in decades has shocked many Dutchmen and especially Jews and Holocaust survivors, who said that it is a reminder of what led up to the Holocaust.

The Nazis occupied the Netherlands in May 1940. Less than a quarter of Dutch Jews survived the Holocaust, and the country has many Holocaust memorials, including a museum in the former home of Anne Frank, which is one of the nation’s most visited sites.

Friday’s incidents prompted Israel to send two airplanes to evacuate its citizens from Amsterdam, and the Israeli government told Israelis in the city to remain in their hotels and to remove signs that could identify them as either Jews or Israelis. The attacks also generated an international uproar, including by King Willem-Alexander, the Dutch ceremonial head of state.

“We must not look away from antisemitic behavior on our streets,” the king stated. “History has taught us how intimidation goes from bad to worse, with horrific consequences. Jewish people must feel safe in the Netherlands, everywhere and at all times. We embrace them all and hold them close.”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that Willem-Alexander told him that “we failed the Jewish community of the Netherlands during World War II, and last night we failed again.”

“We see with horror this morning, the shocking images and videos that since Oct. 7, we had hoped never to see again: an antisemitic pogrom currently taking place against Maccabi Tel Aviv fans and Israeli citizens in the heart of Amsterdam, Netherlands,” the Israeli president added in his own statement.

Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s incoming foreign minister, and Amir Ohana, the Knesset chair, flew to Amsterdam on Friday to help the embassy coordinate efforts to evacuate Israelis who decided to cut their stays short in the Netherlands.

Amsterdam police chief Peter Holla said that 800 officers had been deployed nationwide to prevent attacks on Israelis or Jews ahead of the events in recent days. He noted that before the incidents on Thursday night, there had been “small upheavals” involving Maccabi supporters, who he said had removed a Palestinian flag from a building facade and had “destroyed a taxi.”

A journalist asked at Friday’s joint press conference about the alleged provocations. “There can be no excuse for what happened,” the mayor said.

The incidents, which followed a match between the Ajax soccer club and Maccabi Tel Aviv, also drew a response from French President Emmanuel Macron, whose country is home to Europe’s largest Jewish community. France has also experienced a lot of antisemitism in recent months, and Israeli companies were banned recently from a defense fair in the country.

“The violence against Israeli citizens in Amsterdam recalls history’s darkest hours,” Macron stated. “I strongly condemn it and express my sympathy for the injured. France will relentlessly continue to fight against heinous antisemitism.”

Dick Schoof, the Dutch prime minister, called the incidents “utterly outrageous and abhorrent antisemitic attacks on Israeli citizens in Amsterdam.”

Christians for Israel, an international organization based in the Netherlands, lowered the large Israeli flag, which flies atop its Nijkerk headquarters, to half-mast in solidarity with those attacked.

“Last night’s attack chillingly echoes the events of Kristallnacht,” wrote Frank van Oordt, the group’s director. “That such a violent hunt for Jews could occur again in 2024 in our capital city is both incomprehensible and unacceptable.”

Halsema, the Amsterdam mayor, said that “we have seen an outburst of antisemitism tonight, and it is very unlike Amsterdam.”

“Telegram groups where a Jew-hunt is being discussed,” she said. “It’s so shocking. I am furious and I’m expressing, in the city’s name, the harshest condemnations over what happened.”

“I’m ashamed of the behavior of rioters and criminals,” she added.

A journalist asked at the press conference if Halsema had a comment on the accounts of victims, who said that all of the perpetrators looked Middle Eastern.

“This is an issue that needs to be researched. The background and ethnicity of people, that’s not something I can comment on right now, nor do I want to,” she said. (Halsema is a former leader of D66, a pro-immigration, left-leaning party.)

Geert Wilders, leader of the largest political party in the Netherlands, the Party for Freedom, which is right-leaning, showed no such reservations.

In a series of furious posts on social media, Wilders, a strident critic of immigration and Islam, referenced the alleged ethnicity of the perpetrators repeatedly.

“A pogrom in the streets of Amsterdam. We have become the Gaza of Europe. Muslims with Palestinian flags hunting down Jews. I will not accept that. Never,” he wrote. “The authorities will be held accountable for their failure to protect the Israeli citizens. Never again.”

“We weren’t allowed to speak of Islam as the source of antisemitism, and they didn’t deport criminals. Now we have Jew hunts in Amsterdam,” he added in another post.

Wilders, a passionate supporter of Israel whose party is a senior coalition member, called for the perpetrators to be deported.

The incident, which happened shortly before the anniversary of the Nov. 9-10, 1938 Nazi pogrom called Kristallnacht, comes amid polarizing debate in Europe about Muslim immigration.

In September, Marjolein Faber, the minister of asylum and migration who is part of Wilder’s party, unveiled a plan that she called “the strictest asylum policy ever.”

“We need to change course,” she said. “We are taking measures to make the Netherlands as unattractive as possible for asylum seekers.”

The Party for Freedom received the highest number of vote in the 2023 elections, amid widespread dissatisfaction with mass immigration, primarily from Muslim countries.

On Sunday, an overwhelming majority of lawmakers in the lower house of Germany’s parliament, the Bundestag, passed a resolution that for the first time named Muslim antisemitism as a driver of that phenomenon.

Yanki Jacobs, a prominent Dutch Chabad rabbi from Amsterdam, urged Muslim community leaders to speak out against the assaults. “I think at this moment, Muslim faith leaders need to condemn this vocally,” he told JNS. “I will be asking them to do so today.”

The incidents in Amsterdam prompted a slew of condemnations from Jewish organizations.

Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, expressed “profound concern and solidarity with the victims of last night’s unprovoked attack on Jews.”

“Antisemitism cannot be thwarted by words alone,” stated Dani Dayan, Yad Vashem’s chair. “We call upon world leaders to recognize and take immediate and decisive action to fight against antisemitism and hate before the disease metastasizes to catastrophic proportions. History has shown us that we cannot afford to be complacent in the face of antisemitism.”

Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, stated that the “unprovoked violence—resulting in serious injuries and reports of missing persons—has not only shaken the Israeli and Dutch Jewish communities but underscores the global resurgence of antisemitism that continues to metastasize across societies worldwide.”

“We are horrified by the organized and vicious antisemitic attack on Israelis in Amsterdam,” the Orthodox Union stated. “Coming days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht, it is time for world leaders and individuals of conscience to recognize that brazen attacks against Jews is what protestors are calling for when they chant ‘globalize the intifada.'”

The Jewish Federations of North America stated that it is “horrified and outraged at the hate-filled antisemitic attacks in Amsterdam, in which anti-Israel mobs terrorized and beat Israelis and Jews trying to enjoy a soccer game.”

“This modern-day pogrom, just two days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht, should make it clear that the entire world must act now to condemn and prosecute to the fullest all the perpetrators and take every necessary step to protect the Jewish community,” the Federations said. ” We are in close contact with our partners in Israel and The Jewish Agency for Israel as we continue our commitment to the security of Jewish communities around the world.”

The Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, or CIDI, called for “concrete measures” to be taken to prevent such events from recurring.

The Combat Antisemitism Movement warned that tolerating such incidents would cause Jews to leave Europe. “Europe should remember this: Jews won’t wait around like they did in 1939. They’ll leave, leaving you to deal with the extremism that has been allowed to fester,” Sacha Roytman Dratwa, the group’s CEO, wrote. JNS

What does the ‘Jew hunt’ in Amsterdam spell out for local leadership? – opinion. By Bart Schut, November 8, 2024

As the big players in the Dutch political arena all spoke out condemning what many are calling a ‘pogrom’ against Jewish supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv, the position of Amsterdam’s mayor seems to be weakening by the hour. Geert Wilders, leader of the largest coalition party in the national government in The Hague, though not a member of the government himself, called for Femke Halsema’s resignation.

Apart from calling for deportation of the perpetrators of what the rightwing leader in Dutch labeled as a Jodenjacht (which literally translates as ‘Jew hunt’), Wilders wrote on X: “It is completely unacceptable that there wasn’t enough police protection to prevent this violence and protect the people. The mayor of Amsterdam needs to resign today.” Geert Wilders and his Freedom Party have been critical of immigration from muslim countries for almost two decades. The Netherlands’ House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a motion calling to shutter mosques whose leaders preach the destruction of Israel.

The motion, submitted by the leader of the coalition’s Farmer–Citizen Movement and titled, “The closure of Salafist mosques and institutions that preach the destruction of the Jewish people and Israel,” passed by 91 to 58.

“Noting that antisemitism and incitement to antisemitism are increasing, and this has led to a Jew-hunt, [the resolution] calls on the government to close Salafist mosques and institutions that propagate the destruction of the Jewish people and Israel,” its text states.

“Jew-hunt” refers to a series of assaults against visiting Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam on Nov. 7, which resulted in five moderate injuries and about 20 to 30 minor ones.

Witnesses described about 100 young men of Arab descent assaulting Israelis in a coordinated manner. The European country’s largest-scale antisemitic incident in decades shocked many Dutch Jews and Holocaust survivors…. JNS

Four More Sentenced to Jail for Amsterdam Attack Against Israeli Soccer Fans. by Shiryn Ghermezian. Mar 20, 2025, 12:18 PM. He wrote “Dead Jew better than a living Jew” and messages about “Dirty cancer [sic] Jews.”

The court shared several other of his offensive messages, one of which included an image of Holocaust victim Anne Frank alongside the text “slaughter gas is for losers.

Algemeiner

Amsterdam casino staffer was in co hoots with pro-Palestine rioters, report Local media identifies the man working at the Holland Casino, where some victims of the violence sought refuge; Dutch justice minister says the Israelis were targeted because they were Jews ynet sports|11.9.24

Dutch media reported on Sunday that a man working at a city casino, was involved in the violent attacks on Israeli soccer fans late last week.

The man who was employed by a subcontractor of the Holland Casino, was found to have been part of a social media group coordinating the violent assaults on Amsterdam streets after the match between Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv team and Ajax. The hours-long attacks began as the fans returned to the city center after the game. Violent gangs awaited them on street corners and around their hotels.

The Holland Casino, where some of the Israelis sought shelter during the violence, condemned the attacks and said they have launched an investigation, the NOS channel reported.

"We informed his employers that he is no longer welcome here," the Holland Casino said in a statement. "Staff working for the casino directly or through subcontractors of the casino, serve interests of the establishment, our employees and our guests, first and foremost, and that was not the case here." According to the headline in De Telegraph, Holland's most read newspaper, the attacks were carried out by "boys on scooters" and cab drivers. The paper also wrote that in Telegram pages a call was made for a "hunt on Jews."

The local media also reported that Israelis were still avoiding the use of taxis or Uber. The Jewish community organized an alternative pool of rides. "We helped them make their flights to Israel as quickly as possible," one man told the paper. "They were given food, medical care if needed and were transported to the airport."

The reports went on to say that of the 62 people who were arrested, only six remain in police custody. "They are suspected of violence and subverting public order. The prosecution will employ quick measures to bring them to trial." de Volkskrant reported that the coordinator for counter-terrorism and security (NCTV) said in an official statement that the attack on the Israeli soccer fans took place in parallel to the annual commemoration of Christal Nacht.

Netherland's justice minister David Van Weel said there were indications of possible threats but not any concrete information about attacks on the memorial events or in other parts of the city, when 800 police officers were deployed in Amsterdam and elsewhere around the country. He said there may have been some disregard to Israeli warnings.

The minister added that in his view, everything points to the attacks being carried out against people because they were Jews. YNet

Former Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech mocks Israeli supporters attacked in Amsterdam. Chris Davie. Published Nov 8, 2024, 8:22pm Updated Nov 8, 2024, 8:23pm

Former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has mocked the Israeli football supporters who were attacked in Amsterdam on Thursday night.

Amsterdam’s mayor, Femke Halsema, claims the violence towards Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, who were in the Dutch capital for their team’s Europa League match against Ajax, was orchestrated by ‘antisemitic hit-and-run squads’.

‘Men on scooters crisscrossed the city looking for Israeli football fans. It was a hit and run. I can easily understand that this brings back memories of pogroms,’ Halsema said.

At least five people have been treated in hospital due to the attacks, while 62 people were arrested.

Clips of the violence which were shared on social media show one man who was motionless on the ground being kicked by two different people.

In another video, one man cowering on the floor is heard pleading, ‘I’ll give you money, please go’, while the person standing over him shouts, ‘free Palestine..'

Ziyech, who made 107 appearances during his time at Chelsea and currently plays for Turkish side Galatasaray and Morocco’s national team, shared a video of people running away from attackers in Amsterdam on his Instagram account and wrote: ‘If it’s not women and children they run away.’

Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Eran Zahavi, who also plays for Israel’s national team, hit out at Ziyech’s post on Instagram.

Zahavi wrote: ‘Stupid terror supporter. I hope you see it and punish him! @uefa_official’

The real Nazis stand up. Hours after the Netherlands officially commemorated the Kristallnacht pogrom, the Nazis’ heirs staged a new Kristallnacht. Kristallnacht pogrom, the Nazis’ heirs staged a new Kristallnacht. And the police took their time. Opinion. Gary Willig. Nov 9, 2024, 8:09 PM (GMT+2)

After a tumultuous election campaign in the US that saw many casual accusations of Naziism and being Hitler thrown around, the real Nazis stepped up to show the world how it’s done, right before the anniversary of Kristallnacht.

On the evening of November 7, mobs of anti-Israel ‘activists’ gathered during a soccer match between Ajax and the Israeli Maccabi team in Amsterdam. Armed with knives and clubs, they set upon the Israeli fans in what can only be described as a true pogrom straight out of the worst days of Tsarist Russia. Hours after the Netherlands officially commemorated the Kristallnacht pogrom, the Nazis’ heirs staged a new Kristallnacht.

Victims were reportedly beaten unconscious, run over by cars, even thrown into a canal. Men and women walking with their children were not spared the wrath of a mob just as thirsty for Jewish blood as those that stalked the streets of Germany on the night of November 9, 1938. They broke into hotels where Jews were believed to be staying and threw incendiary devices through windows in the hope of causing as much damage and harm as possible.

The violence was so bad that Israel deployed recue planes to Amsterdam to get its citizens out. The Foreign Ministry advised Jews not to wear anything displaying their Jewish identity.

Dutch politician Geert Wilders called it a “Jew hunt” on the streets of Amsterdam, a terrifyingly accurate description of last night’s horrors.

How is this possible in enlightened Europe in 2024? How can an outright pogrom be committed in a Western capital? How could Nazis still cause such atrocities in Europe nearly 80 years after their defeat in World War Two?

Thirteen months of unchecked lies, incitement, and hate is how. The moment the October 7 massacre was committed, an open season on Jews was declared around the world. Just a month after the worst massacre committed against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, almost exactly one year ago, Dutch-Jewish watchdog Documentation on Israel (CIDI) reported an 800% increase in antisemitic incidents in Holland.

In October, 2023, antisemitic mobs in Sydney chanted “Where’s the Jews?” Last night, the Nazis found the Jews they were looking for in Amsterdam.

Holland’s failure to prevent a pogrom in Amsterdam is the product of over a year of lies and hate that led to police officers refusing to so much as stand guard outside Amsterdam’s Holocaust museum, as was revealed a month ago. One victim has reported that it took police three hours to arrive after Israelis who fled to the Marriot Hotel called them for help.

Three hours. In the heart of Amsterdam. Perhaps it’s not surprising for a police force whose officers publicly declare that they do not see Jews as worth protecting.

All the false accusations of genocide and other crimes in Gaza have led to this. Indeed, their only purpose beyond saving Hamas is to allow for more October 7s and to justify pogroms and attacks on Jews like this one.

Every anti-Israel encampment on college campuses, all the shouts of “genocide” at Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, every chant of “death to Israel” and “death to America” has been in preparation for moments like this. This is what the Columbia University protesters who called for Hamas to murder Jewish students and for “10,000 October 7s” want. This is the deepest, most-cherished dream of those who chant “From the River to the Sea.”

This is what Chuck Schumer was defending when he told Columbia administrators not to be concerned with the Nazis who took over their campus. If these Nazis commit a similar pogrom in the US, that Jewish blood will be on Schumer’s head.

The civilized world, from Europe to Australia to the US, must stand up to the re-emergence of the Nazi attempts to wipe out the Jewish people. Leaders must stop appeasing these monsters and start acting like Jews have a right to live.

The real Nazis have stepped up and shown themselves. Will anyone stand up to them? INN

Amsterdam pogrom: Israeli-Druze soccer fan spoke in Arabic & saved Jewish friends. Melhem Asad saved his friends and other Israeli fans from the Amsterdam pogrom, by misleading the Palestinian Arab rioters who were pursuing them. Israel National News. Nov 9, 2024, 9:19 PM (GMT+2)

Melhem Asad, a Druze-Israeli who is also a fan of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team, saved many Jewish fans on Thursday from the pogrom in Amsterdam.

The pogrom began following a game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and AFC Ajax. According to Asad, the security provided for the Israelis ended with the game, and the violence began shortly afterwards.

Asad, a resident of Kisra-Sumei in the Upper Galilee, told to Kan Reshet Bet that he did not hesitate to help his friends when he noticed the violence, and explained, "Before the game, we were at Dam Square, and there was good security. They really accompanied us the whole time before the game. After the game ended, we left the field on the way to the hotel, and there was no security. There was nothing."

"I saw people speaking Arabic. They said, 'Anyone who has a Maccabi shirt and Israeli symbols - beat him to kill.' I tried to confuse them with my language, to tell them that the Jews left. I spoke in Arabic so that they would recognize us as 'with an Arabic accent,' I told the fans to hide their Maccabi Tel Aviv shirts and not to speak Hebrew."

Melhem repeated these actions several times, but he did not manage to help everyone: "I went to restaurants in the area and I did it again, three or four times. Around me there were people on the floor, who had been beaten, and I could not help them. I was afraid."

"I was afraid that they would recognize me and kill me. The Council called me and my parents were worried about me but I didn't want to answer the phone, so that they would not hear me or see that I am an Arab-Israeli and begin to beat me."

He concluded, "This is our culture - the Druze, we support our country." But he also complained that despite the Druze population's great contribution to Israel's security and Israeli society, "we do not receive rights, they don't give us respect, and we give everything to our country." INN

Amsterdam Mayor Lambasted for Saying She Regrets Calling Violent Attacks Against Israeli Soccer Fans a ‘Pogrom.'

By Shiryn Ghermezian. November 19, 2024.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar castigated Amsterdam’s Mayor Femke Halsema on Monday after the latter said she should not have used the word “pogrom” to describe the violent, antisemitic attacks that took place earlier this month against Israeli soccer fans in the Dutch capital.

At a press conference on Nov. 8, after the premeditated and coordinated attack, Halsema said, “Boys on scooters crisscrossed the city in search of Israeli football fans; it was a hit and run. I understand very well that this brings back the memory of pogroms.”

During her appearance on the Dutch state broadcaster NPO’s “News Hour” program on Sunday, Halsema was asked if she would use the term “pogrom” again to describe the incident. In her reply, the mayor explained that her use of the word in connection to the violent attacks has been wrongly politicized.

“First, let me say that the words ‘Jew hunt’ have been used,” she said. “People were going ‘Jew hunting’; they asked for passports. That night and early morning I spoke to many Jewish Amsterdammers on the phone, with a lot of emotions. And what I primarily wanted to express was the sadness and fear among Jewish Amsterdammers.”

“But I have to say that in the days after, I saw how the word ‘pogrom’ became very political ... Algemeiner
