Apatheism

Apatheism is a form of skepticism that disregards or has a lack of interest towards the belief of a deity, indifferent to whatever evidence available there may be to support that deity. See also: Atheism and apathy

Apatheists are known to be apathetic, reluctant, and not open to the possibility of God even existing, while sometimes confronting and attacking religion as a whole because of a personal desire to avoid God.

According Pew Research:

“

In the 2014 Religious Landscape Study, self-identified atheists were asked how often they share their views on God and religion with religious people. Only about one-in-ten atheists (9%) say they do at least weekly, while roughly two-thirds (65%) say they seldom or never discuss their views on religion with religious people. By comparison, 26% of those who have a religious affiliation share their views at least once a week with those who have other beliefs; 43% say they seldom or never do.

”

Atheist population is lacking in confidence

Eric Kaufmann, professor at Birbeck College, University of London, wrote:

“

Worldwide, the march of religion can probably only be reversed by a renewed, self-aware secularism. Today, it appears exhausted and lacking in confidence... Secularism's greatest triumphs owe less to science than to popular social movements like nationalism, socialism and 1960s anarchist-liberalism. Ironically, secularism's demographic deficit means that it will probably only succeed in the twenty-first century if it can create a secular form of 'religious' enthusiasm."
