Bobby Charlton

Bobby Charlton (11 October 1937 – 21 October 2023) was an English soccer player famous for being part of the 1966 world cup team.

Charlton was born in Ashington, Northumberland. He made his debut for the Manchester United in 1956 and over the next two seasons gained a regular place in the team. He was also one of the few team members that survived the Munich air disaster of 1958.

He was first selected for the English nation team in 1958 and played in 4 world cup championships. He retired as a footballer in 1973 and later became the manager of Preston North End.
