British Asians are British citizens whose ancestry originates wholly or partially in Asia. Although the term includes people with ancestry from most or all of Asia, colloquially it is most often used to describe those whose ancestors are from Indian subcontinent or South Asian countries such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka.
Prominent British Asian figures include musician Freddie Mercury, and politicians such as Rishi Sunak, who served as Prime Minister between 2022 and 2024, as well as Priti Patel.
