The building trades are the specialized occupations involved in the construction of buildings, roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
These trades include but are not limited to:
- Carpentry
- Framing
- Finish carpentry
- Cabinetmaking
- Earthmoving
- Excavation
- Site finish work
- Electrical installation
- Plumbing
- Water supply and waste systems in buildings
- Sewage and septic systems
- Masonry
- Drywall (sheetrock) hanging and finishing
- Painting (exterior and interior)
- Roofing
- Metalwork
In addition to the practitioners of these trades, one might include the numerous surveyors, architects, managers, supervisors, apprentices and helpers involved in any major construction project.
