Callout Culture – a Grassroots Means of Promoting Truth. November 17, 2017. UPDATED 8/24/18 WITH MORE EXAMPLES [...]
This past summer David Cobb of the Green Party adopted the writings of “rogue journalist” Caitlin Johnstone for his show on The Green News Network. Johnstone’s writings included conspiracy-mongering (Seth Rich, Pizzagate), sensationalism, consistent and dangerous avoidance of race-related issues and tip-toeing around any criticism of Donald Trump or the fascistic “alt-right”. Additionally, Johnstone promoted the work of very nefarious characters – she actively supported an alliance with the “alt-right”, specifically encouraging cooperation with rape-apologist Mike Cernovich, and endorsing a red-brown partnership between Robert “child sex slave colony on Mars” Steele and Cynthia McKinney, a former Green Party Presidential candidate who has been implicated for her anti-Semitism and associations with Holocaust deniers on more than one occasion. As a result, I called out Johnstone in an attempt to prevent the Greens from following her on a dangerous ideological “red-brown” path. My article led to several more on Counterpunch, which included pieces by Josh Frank, Eric Draitser, Jeff St. Clair, and a constructive analysis by Anthony DiMaggio. Progressive Army’s Anoa Changa and Beth Lynch also pitched in, as well as Ben Dixon, Ben Norton and other writers. Johnstone replied both in writing and video, though she failed to address any of our core concerns and instead played the victim card. Following this extended debate, Johnstone never appeared on The Green New Network again. Y.L.
The Green Party – Marks In A Media Con Job July 13, 2017. Fake lefties usher in fascism But Johnstone’s sensationalist, populist and often inaccurate blogging, as well as her dodgy backers and her cries for a red-brown alliance are not the point of this article, it is the fact that her sort of writing is dangerously promoted by many well-meaning progressives and radicals on the left as well as on a monthly basis by David Cobb of the Green Party. In today’s demonopolized media landscape, deceit is perpetuated not only by the usual suspects, i.e. the corporate state and its subservient media outlets but also by a range of fake news, which is published online with no editing or verification on free-for-all blogging platforms, such as Medium. The ease and availability of online publishing, as well as the growing distaste with the corruptions of corporate media, provide a vacuum into which sensationalism can be used to promote a populist and potentially fascistic agenda. mint
The Wave of Antisemitism Does Not Spare the Fifth Continent. Gideon Mitchenik. | 09.09.2025In addition, Telegram groups and others organize “field actions” against Jewish businesses or community events. These groups operate with clandestine features similar to other extremist antisemitic movements worldwide. Influential online figures such as Robert Martin and Caitlin Johnstone also contribute to the spread of antisemitism. [1]
