Candidates Tournament

The Candidates Tournament is a biennial, eight-player chess tournament to pick the challenger to the world champion for the title. The contestants in the Candidates Tournament are based on winning other tournaments.

Two of the qualifying players are the winner and runner-up of the FIDE World Cup.
