Captain Tom Moore
Captain Sir Thomas Moore (30 April 1920 – 2 February 2021), known as Tom Moore or Captain Tom, was a British Army Officer and fundraiser.
History
In April 2020, aged 99, Moore began walking 100 lengths of his garden in Bedfordshire, hoping to raise £1000 for an NHS charity by his 100th birthday. His 24-day efforts attracted global media attention and he attracted over 1.5 million donations.
He recorded a cover of 1945 pop song "You'll Never Walk Alone" for a charity single alongside British singer Michael Ball, which reached No. 1 in both the UK and Scottish charts.
Captain Tom Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle on 17 July 2021.[1]
His autobiography "Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day" was published in September 2020 and was a Sunday Times Number 1 Bestseller.
