Carlos Merida

Carlos Mérida (Guatemala, 1891 - Mexico, 1984), was a Guatemalan painter. In México he became active in the Mexican mural movement. In 1922, he worked with Diego Rivera; they worked in the murals of the Anfiteatro Bolivar in Mexico City. After 1949, Mérida participated in several architectural projects including mosaic murals in Mexico City and the civic center in Guatemala City. In his later career he experiment with abstract and construtivist art as well as installation art in canvas, murals and mosaics.
