I think this article should be deleted. The topic is obscure, and this article reads like a sort of speculative essay or something. --Anglican (talk) 17:01, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
- It is certainly unheard of, and the information is better placed on the McDonalds page. Then again, this isn't the print Britannica, where we put as much information in as few articles as possible, and we have lots of articles on obscure topics or terms that are only a few sentences long.--Nathan--Abcqwe (talk) 17:08, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
- It is very obscure, but as Nathan said, we have many obscure articles. I don't see that this is doing any harm, so i probably would let it be. We at least least put a disambiguation link to McDonald's at the top, but the intro does quickly explain the difference. --David B (TALK) 18:36, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
- I'm just not sure what the notability requirements should be because while it is great that CP doesn't face the same limitations as paper encyclopedias (do they even print those anymore?) we don't exactly need articles on some guy's obscure and insignificant basement cult. Also let me know what you think of the revisions I made to the article. --Anglican (talk) 18:46, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
- Your edits are certainly improvements in the language and make it sound more encyclopedic, and I know we've got some obscure cults - see some of the pages made by "TheAmericanRedoubt," a good faith editor who wrote a great deal on survivalism and guns. Also a humorously linked article on batteries. Also, on print encyclopedias, Britannica ceased printing in 2012 in favor of their online version (which contains all the articles from previous versions, updated some), and they are currently facing the decision to either cover current politics in detail or to recognize lesser-known politicians as insignificant as they have politics of the distant past. For example, only after Macron's election did they have an article about him.--Nathan--Abcqwe (talk) 19:19, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
- Yeah, the revisions look good. Notability is a bit of a judgement call. We do try to permit more that WP, where it seems that anything not well known gets deleted. We do draw the line at sell-serving entries like advertisements. Other than that, I'm not aware of any specific guidelines. You could ask a full administrator directly if they don't respond here in a while.
- Also, as Nathan said, they do not still make print encyclopedias. I've looked, but no stores seem to sell them, and the libraries I have checked neither have nor know of any modern print encyclopedias. --David B (TALK) 19:22, 18 May 2017 (EDT)
