Erich von Däniken
Erich von Däniken (born April 14, 1935) is a Swiss author and pseudoscientist.
Däniken claims that aliens visited the Earth and gave over scientific progress to humans. According to him, the Pyramids, the stone monuments on the Easter Island or Stonehenge were built with assistance by aliens. He also claims that the Bible and other sacred texts of humankind are records of alien visitations. His first book was called "Erringerunen an der Zukunft" (1969) and was translated into English as "Chariots of the Gods". His other books include "The Gold of the Gods" and "In Search of Ancient Gods". Despite his books having sold millions of copies, virtually all scientists reject his works as pseudo-science. He claimed that the Nazca lines of Peru were built as landing fields for alien spacecraft and that Easter Island stone figures were built by aliens. His works have repeatedly been shown to be a tissue of false claims and misunderstood evidence.
