Frémaux was born to Léon François Victor Frémaux and the former Irène Marie Műrr at Roberts Cove north of Rayne in Acadia Parish in south Louisiana.[2] His paternal grandfather was Léon Joseph Frémaux, a Louisiana artist and engineer. At the age of seven, Frémaux began selling newspapers while attending school.

Frémaux worked for two and a half years as an accountant for Acadia Iron Works in Crowley. He then took a position at the Morse Rice Mill and the White Swan Rice Mill Corporation at Gueydan in Vermilion Parish before moving to Alexandria. From 1913 to 1927, he was an accountant for the L. A. Stafford Wholesale Grocery Company, his partner prior to 1937 of the Brown Hide Company. He completed accounting courses through LaSalle Extension University. After his work at L. A. Stafford, he spent a year and a half with the Louisiana Public Utilities Company. In 1946, that company merged with Gulf Public Service, Inc., which in 1951 merged with Central Louisiana Electric Company, Inc., a company long known as the CLECO Corporation, based in Pineville in Rapides Parish.[3]
Family and death
In 1911, Frémaux wed the former Jessie May Bullard. Their first child, Wanda Frémaux, was born in 1912 at Morse, southwest of Crowley in Acadia Parish. In 1914 a second child, Wilton Frémaux, was born at the family home at 1530 Madison Street in Alexandria. Upon his death at the age of eighty-one, Frémaux was survived by his wife, two children, six grandchildren, one sister, Emma Josephine Frémaux Gueno.
