James L. Jones. Samore's job is to coordinate issues related to weapons of mass destruction across the government. His portfolio includes proliferation, nuclear and conventional arms control, threat reduction, and terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction, and his position sits within the National Security Council. Previous experience

Samore was previously a high-profile negotiator for the Clinton administration, where his policies towards North Korea are widely accepted to have been largely unsuccessful. Following his post in the Clinton administration, Samore acted Director of Studies and Senior Fellow for Non-Proliferation at the International institute for Strategic Studies in Britain. His main responsibilities there included directing the think tank's program called "Fostering an International Consensus on Fighting the Spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)". Samore will seek to prevent the proliferation of WMDs.
