George Pell is a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia.
In 2017 he was charged with alleged historical sex abuse. He denied these accusations. Pell was eventually convicted by a jury during the second secret trial. This jury did not see the accuser give live testimony, they only viewed a recording and unlike the first jury they did not visit the cathedral. Pell appealed the decision to the Victorian appeals court but his appeal was denied in a split 2–1 decision. Australian Justice Weinberg dissented in favor of Pell with a 200 page opinion. He referenced the false allegations by Carl Beach and the unjust conviction of Lindy Chamberlain in Australia.[1][2][3]
