Greenville is a city in Texas, in the northeastern portion of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is the county seat of Hunt County.

Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier of World War II, grew up for a time near the city. An overpass in the downtown area is named for him, and the city houses a museum dedicated to him (along with the local cotton industry which dominated the area prior to WWII).

The city, sadly, has a racist past: for years people were greeted with a sign saying, "the blackest land, the whitest people". The sign now resides at the museum, but the racism still continues as two of the major streets in the city are named for Confederate generals.

Majors Field, located in the southeastern quadrant of the city, was a training hub during WWII. The city took over ownership after the war and has leased it to a division of L3Harris Technologies, who is by far the city's largest employer (the facility engages in aircraft maintenance and modernization, specifically secret work).
