A half dollar is a coin in the United States worth 50 cents. As with most United States coins, it is circular in shape with ridges on the outer circumference. It currently features John F. Kennedy on the obverse side and a bald eagle on the reverse. It is currently made of cupronickel, though the current Kennedy design once contained silver. The coin still has a silver coloring. The half dollar is rarely used.
