"Jailhouse Rock" also refers to the title song from the film, which was a number one hit for Presley.

Jailhouse Rock was Elvis Presley's third film and arguably his most controversial. In this film, Presley played a convict named Vince Everett. The movie premiered on October 17, 1957, in Memphis and was released nationwide on November 8, 1957. It peaked at number 3 on Variety box office chart. This film received mixed reviews, with many of the negative comments targeted toward Presley's rogue persona portrayed in the film. The film was number 14 in the Box Office charts for that year, grossing over $4 million. The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 2004.
