James Whale is a combative UK talk radio "shock jock", who established his reputation for short-fuse libertarianism on local radio in Newcastle upon Tyne and Leeds in northern England, moving in the 1990s to the UK-wide TalkSport radio station. Despite an openly avowed skepticism towards religions of all kind, he provided a courteous if challenging environment for religious spokespeople on his late-night program.[1] In May 2008 he was fired by TalkSport for urging listeners to vote for Conservative Party candidate Boris Johnson in the London mayoral election.
