Jane Russell (1921-2011) was a Midwest-born actress who was popular with other actresses and actors in Hollywood, and both a friend and defender of Marilyn Monroe, saying about Monroe:

She made me cry, she was so sweet. I believed in her. We made a h*** of a team and I wish we had done another picture together.[1]

Russell publicly stated that she was sure that Marilyn Monroe did not kill herself, and Russell suspected foul play by a very high level.[2]

Russell was outspokenly pro-life after being rendered infertile herself by an abortion imposed on her as a teenager.[1] "Through her organization, World Adoption International Fund (WAIF), Russell has placed 51,000 children with adoptive families."[3]

Russell was a supporter of Phyllis Schlafly.[4]

Russell's 341 page autobiography, "My Path and My Detours: An Autobiography (1985)," is an inspiring account of her faith and experiences in Hollywood. A 392-page biography a decade after she passed away is "Mean...Moody...Magnificent!: Jane Russell and the Marketing of a Hollywood Legend" (2021), by Christina Rice.
