Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein (Haina, Hesse, Germany, 1751 - Eutin, Oldemburg, 1829) was a German painter. Tischbein is best known for his famous portrait Goethe in der Campagna. The same year 1787, he also made the sepia drawing Goethe am Fenster seiner Wohnung in Rom.
Tischbein painted landscapes, historical scenes and still lifes; he was also a portrait painter of the German royalty.
