John Cleese

John Cleese (born October 27, 1939) is a British comedian, actor, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. He was an original member of the comedy team Monty Python. Cleese and his first wife Connie Booth created the sitcom, Fawlty Towers, in which he played Basil Fawlty, a pedantic and crazed hotel owner. The character was based on a real life person who managed a hotel that the Monty Python crew stayed at during the making of one of their movies.
