John Gibbs
John Gibbs is a black conservative who trounced the entrenched Never-Trumper incumbent Peter Meijer (R-MI) in his own GOP primary in Michigan, on August 2, 2022.
Meijer is an heir to an immense supermarket fortune, and had enormous advantages of wealth and name recognition. Gibbs, a self-made man, took on the full-of-himself Meijer against all odds, and routed him a spectacular primary upset.
Gibbs had been in the Trump Administration as an assistant to Dr. Ben Carson at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Gibbs had previously been nominated to be the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, but his nomination was stalled in the Republican Senate by RINO Senators Mitt Romney (UT) and Rick Scott (FL).
Gibbs is a graduate of Stanford University where he studied computer science, and a graduate of Harvard University where he received a masters degree in Public Administration. Gibbs is fluent in Japanese and spent seven years in Japan as a Christian missionary. Gibbs is a traditionalist Catholic.
In January 2023, Gibbs was hired as the County Administrator for Ottawa County, Michigan. In February 2024, Gibbs was terminated from that employment.
