Joyce Meyer is a Charismatic Christian preacher. Known for her 'no nonsense' and 'tell it like it is' style, her outreach, based in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton, Missouri supports the less fortunate over the world and also seeks to spread the message of Christ. She also travels the United States in speaking engagements consistently packing in large crowds. While the emphasis has been on the mid-west or the east, more of her conferences are now starting to spread to the west.
Criticism
Some have claimed that Joyce Meyer supports the controversial and that she focuses on "Christianity-light" sermons.
She is also criticized for taking the role of pastor, a role many Christians (mainly within Fundamentalist and Evangelical camps) believe the Bible to say is reserved only for a man. Many Christians use verses such as 1 Corinthians 14:34 or 1 Timothy 2:12 to support their viewpoint.
