Judy Garland
Judy Garland (June 10, 1922 – June 22, 1969) was the stage name of a famous American actress and singer. In honor of her 100th birthday on June 10, 2022, there was a revival of her role as Dorothy Gale, a Kansas farm girl, in The Wizard of Oz.[1]
She was also highly regarded as a performer of songs from the American Song Book and had her own TV show. She battled continuously against eating disorders and drug addiction, and died in London of a barbiturate overdose.
Hollywood liberals refused to give Judy Garland the recognition she deserved, granting her only a mini-Oscar for her riveting performance in The Wizard of Oz and then snubbing her again later.
In 1941 and again in 1943, Judy Garland was forced to have abortions by her Hollywood movie studio, and "[a]rguably, these incidents affected Garland psychologically."[2]
