Kanazawa (金沢) is an important Japanese city located in Honshu island, along the Sea of Japan. It is the capital of the Ishikawa Prefecture. Kanazawa means "marsh of gold".

Kanazawa as well as Kyoto escaped from destruction in World War Two; consequently, parts of the Kanazawa Castle are in good condition.

One of the cultural points of interest is the Kanazawa Yasue Gold Leaf Museum. Gold leaf plays an important role in its cultural crafts.
