Miriam Adelson
Miriam Adelson (née Farbstein; formerly Oxhorn; born October 10, 1945) is an American-Israeli Jewish billionaire, philanthropist, internist, and expert in the field of drug addiction. She is the widow of Sheldon Adelson.
In 2023 Adelson purchased a majority interest in the Dallas Mavericks from previous owner Mark Cuban (along with buying out remaining minority shareholders, notably the estate of founding owner Don Carter as well as the interests of Ross Perot Jr. who served as the team's second owner); though Cuban still maintains control of daily operations, Adelson's son-in-law Patrick Dumont will serve on the NBA's Board of Governors. The purchase was widely believed to be an attempt to influence the Texas Legislature into legalizing casino gambling in the state.
