Nebuchadnezzar I

Nebuchadnezzar I, was king of the Babylonian Empire and reigned for 22 years.[1] While debate exists around the exact years, general consensus agrees that they are between 1146–1100 BC. He was the fourth king of the Second Dynasty of Isin and the Fourth Dynasty of Babylon of which he was the dynasty's most prominent monarch.

He is best known for his victory over the Elamites and the recovery of the cultic idol of Marduk. His other significant deeds include his soon thereafter strengthening the fortifications of Babylon and his successful war with Assyria and consequential territorial expansion.

He should not be confused with the Biblically significant Nebuchadnezzar II.
