Operation Bagration was the codename for the Soviet offensive which defeated German Nazi forces in Belarussia and Eastern Poland in World War II. The operation began on June 22, 1944,(the third anniversary of Operation Barbarossa) and resulted in the near destruction of the German Army Group Centre. German losses were estimated at 350,000 soldiers killed, wounded and MIA. 50,000 German prisoners were force-marched through the streets of Moscow to show the scale of the victory.
