Radio Free Europe

Radio Free Europe (RFE) was a broadcasting organization founded in 1950 by the National Committee for a Free Europe and funded by the United States Congress. Based in Munich, Germany it broadcast in local languages to the eastern European nations under Soviet occupation. In 1976 RFE merged with Radio Liberty, a similar organization which broadcast in local languages to the peoples of the Soviet Union, to form Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
