A sham indictment is a misuse of prosecutorial power for political gain or simply a headline-grabbing abuse of power. Increasingly sham indictments are used by liberal Democrats in order to defeat a Republican candidate for office, or to censor those who work against election fraud.

Abuse of the legal concept of "conspiracy" -- which is supposed to require proof of an actual agreement to do an unlawful act -- is a tool of sham indictments that are filled with statements and actions by others which the accused never made or did.

Sometimes a sham indictment is a prosecutorial tactic to pressure a witness to make accusations against the primary target of the politicized prosecutors.

A heavily Dem county in Georgia sham indicted 19 Republicans on Aug. 14, 2023, creating a potential crisis for the Nation as to whether GOP states would recognize this political stunt by Democrats.
