Sieg Heil (pron: Zeeg Hi-el) (Eng: Hail Victory) was an official Nazi greeting and salute.

A National Socialist would greet a person with "Heil Hitler" (Hail Hitler), the person being greeted would respond, "Sieg Heil" to affirm their commitment to Adolf Hitler and the national socialist cause. In Nazi occupied and modern fascist Ukraine the official Nazi greeting is "Slava Ukraine", and the response is "Heroiam slava" ("Glory to the Heroes"). Failure to deliver the proper response makes the political views of the person being greeted suspect.[1]
