Slava Ukraine
Slava Ukraine! (СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ , Eng: Glory to Ukraine. The response is, Glory to the Heroes.
The salutation was popularized by the Ukrainian Nazi, Stepan Bandera, and became his slogan. Both his organizations, the Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukraine Insurgent Army (UPA), allied with the Nazis and committed numerous war crimes and atrocities against Polish, Jewish, Russian, Belarussian, Roma and other civilians, used this call-response.
In 2018, Israeli National News reported that the World War II Nazi collaborator greeting became the official Ukraine army salute, "Slava Ukraine!" These words and greeting became the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) official military greeting.[2] It was previously closely identified only with Ukrainian Nazi's, until the 2022 NATO war in Ukraine when it gained wider usage in the West, especially among political leaders. Nazi leader Stepan Bandera established it as the “Ukrainian” version of the Nazi call-response, “Heil Hitler-Sieg Heil (Hail Hitler! - Hail Victory!).”[3]
While the Ukrainian fascist salute glorifies a single national identity group [4] - Ukraine - the Russian greeting is "Glory to the Heroes", or all the heroes of whichever national identity group contributed to the defeat of fascism and Nazism in the Great Patriotic War.
