Having recently acquired a handgun permit in New York state (not an easy thing to do, I assure you; it seems I've been at it for years!) I can now legally purchase a handgun to go along with my collection of rifles. Does anyone have any advice on what sort of gun I should buy? Any informed opinion, especially if Biblically inspired, would be most appreciated. Thanks. [[User:AngusT|AngusT]] 13:50, 21 July 2013 (EDT)

:Congratulations! Really, it depends on your situation and what you're trying to accomplish. Assuming you're willing to make a moderately large investment in your collection, to cover all your bases, I would recommend five guns: a semiautomatic, magazine-fed rifle (for defending against large mobs); a bolt-action hunting/sniper rifle (for killing large game or defending against an entrenched marauder); a shotgun (for fowl hunting); a .22 caliber rifle (to hone shooting skills and bag small game); and a pistol (for close-in self-defense). If you can only afford a few of these, you may have to do some soul-searching about which of these needs is most important and relevant to your circumstances. Personal proclivities will also be a factor, of course; some people are partial to particular guns. [[User:Dhdidnac|Dhdidnac]] 10:17, 6 January 2014 (EST)
