:: Hmmm, I suppose that could work. However in this instance it could be very difficult to define what we mean by the primary reason. Typically in such analysis one could self-reporting, however I doubt that would work in this case :) [[User:AndyJM|AndyJM]] 12:37, 31 December 2008 (EST)

Do these percentages refer to percentages of individuals in the population, or percentages of what brings about non-conservatism within individuals? E.g. one individual could be a non-conservative mostly because of resentment but also partly because of wanting to fit in with peers. So then, do we add up those percentages of motives within individuals to produce the total for the population as a whole; so that if the whole population consists of individuals whose motives for being non-conservative are 50% due to resentment, but none of whom is motivated 100% by resentment, then we would still count it as 50% for the whole population?

I would also question, by the way, whether people who don't even necessarily harbor a truly non-conservative opinion or who may be politically apathetic, should even be counted as bona fide non-conservatives if they're just acting non-conservative to meet a social expectation, any more than a person who goes to church just to be counted as a churchgoer should be considered a Christian.
