The other characters in her game opposing her participation are unfairly portrayed as bigoted and villainous. On the other hand, the main character in the movie, Ralph, who we are meant to empathize with, expresses the strange sentiment that Venellope is "just being who she is" and the other players "could love her," which means include her in the races.
