|Truman doesn't realize his seemingly ordinary life is a reality TV show, controlled by Christof, the heartless and manipulative creator who lives in the fake sky above him. Truman must escape from the show and triumph over Christof. Christof is an allegorical substitute for the Christian God (notice the Christ in his name) while the false world of the TV show is intended to reflect the filmmakers' perception of Christianity.
