Response to User:Wschact - Thank you for the Mentoring
Line 9: Line 9:
:With utmost respect, the basic idea is that our work goes into article space when it is ready.  If you want to start working on an Unfree state article (which I believe you have the right to do), create a new page at [[User:TheAmericanRedoubt/Unfree state]] and put the list of categories there.  After you write an article that you feel is ready for the public then move or have an admin move it over the Redirect article.  Everyone here wants you to be a happy and productive editor.  But a good tailor does not want his stitches to show, so we ask you to keep your work-in-progress hidden from public view until you feel that it is ready.

:: OK. Thank for the mentoring. I was used to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Be_bold method of contributing a "stub" on the fly over at Wikipedia and being quickly corrected if it wasn't in accord with the hundreds and hundreds of complicated rules and policies. :On categories, to answer your question, in 2008, the "unwritten rule" of not putting an article in a category if it is placed in a subcategory was discussed with Andy at [http://www.conservapedia.com/User_talk:Aschlafly/Archive45#Wikiprojects] and we can find many other precedents for that "unwritten rule."

:: Roger that. I am not used to that way elsewhere, but "when in Rome..."

::Will endeavor to do now that I have read a history of the unwritten rule. I had put my [[Mossberg 930]] article both in [[:Category:Shotguns]] and in the new category [[:Semi-automatic Shotguns]]. But you or someone else didn't like that. Now I get it. [[User:TheAmericanRedoubt|TheAmericanRedoubt]] 11:29, 5 January 2015 (EST)

:I see that in some cases you have put a category into itself as a subcategory. Please do not do that.

:: Those were just late night tiredness errors from "cut and paste" from my Word document list of categories on my part.  I have been putting in a lot of hours per day on my Conservapedia work so I sometimes get sloppy as you said on the Community Portal. I am trying to correct those nested loop categories as I review my work since I am mostly editing within my 6 major areas of interest listed on my Talk Page and User Page. :There have been CP editors in the past who have spend countless hours perfecting the category tree structure. Most of them have now retired, so I accept your observation of some breaks (not caused by you) in the category structure.  The fact that there are other mistakes that need repair does not mean that you should add to the list of breaks or adopt bad practices.  I hope that this helps. :: Got it. I was used to editing at Wikipedia with literally tens of thousands or more of infinitely detailed Categories. Just the realm of Firearms over at Wikipedia has a dizzying array of Categories. I like Conservapedia's simplicity but am not used to it. Thanks again for the clarifications. Good day.
