| − | Back in 2012, I was a senior editor on Wikipedia and could boast tens of thousands of edits as well as a clean eight-year track record. I spent much of my time in a forum callled "requested moves." There I promoted the use of conventional English in titles, and opposed unnecessary reliance on foreign languages. I was eventually blocked over an article I wrote about Sino-Vietnamese characters. This is a highly obscure subject; I am pretty sure the article would not be remotely controversial if anyone else wrote it. The idea was to get me out of the way so a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Archive252#Ban_proposal:_Kauffner banning discussion could be held] without my interference. This discussion was full of people I'd never heard of up to that point. Someone must have canvassed them together. The article that triggered the discussion is barely mentioned. In other words, something else was going on. | + | Back in 2012, I was a senior editor on Wikipedia and could boast tens of thousands of edits as well as a clean eight-year track record. | − | If anyone wants to get to the bottom of Wikipedia corruption, I suggest investigating the French embassy as a possible source of payola. My crime against France was to lead a successful effort to move an African country from it's French name (''Côte d'Ivoire'') to it's English name (Ivory Coast). This was in June 2012, just before the offensive against me was launched. Oddly enough, Ivory Coast is still at Ivory Coast all this time later. So the underlying issue isn't that important to anyone; The problem is just that I exposed their corruption. | + | If anyone wants to get to the bottom of Wikipedia corruption, I suggest investigating the French embassy as a possible source of payola.
