He was a "classical liberal," kind of like some of the founding fathers, which reflects many of today's conservative values: laissez-faire, democracy, freedom of speech, equality of women. :It is a miscarriage of historical teaching by the very same professors who are teaching inaccurate American history. Particularly the issue of democracy. The Founders loathed democracy and disparaged it seemingly every chance they got. They put [[Republicanism]] head and shoulders above democracy.
