Good question, and probably like trying to fit a square peg into a selection of circular holes. He was a "classical liberal," kind of like some of the founding fathers, which reflects many of today's conservative values: laissez-faire, democracy, freedom of speech, equality of women. However, he was a fairly rabid atheist, so I'm not sure if trying to label him is worthwhile at all. [[User:DouglasA|DouglasA]] 14:27, 6 February 2010 (EST)
