:This version of the template dates back to when Wikipedia linked to dates, so that you could see what happened on any date in recent history. After the template was ported to Conservapedia, WP had a wide-spread campaign to unlink dates. Conservapedia does not automatically follow WP's decision-making. ::I agree with NeilWalker's comment. Automatically linking dates creates annoying visual clutter on the screen.
