However, according to New Zealand [[mainstream media]] news reports  the others were not part of the attack and the attacker was a solo assailant. The 28 year old shooter obviously had paramilitary training and had traveled to [[Pakistan]], [[North Korea]], [[Turkey]], parts of [[Africa]], [[Portugal]], [[Spain]], [[France]], [[Afghanistan]] and [[Xinjiang]], [[China]].
